Excellence In Home Care.ca
Assalam alaykum warahmatulah wabarakatuhu sisters and brothers,
Jazakallah Khairan for taking a few moments of your time to assist us with understanding the needs of our Muslim community in regards to starting an Islamic Home Care business. Your input is extremely beneficial to us and our planning of home care services and home care employment opportunities for our Community.
My name is Suzanne, I am a Canadian revert (2020) and currently take care of my senior mother who had a devastating stroke in 2024 that left her bedridden. Through personal experience, I understand the confusion and frustation of navigating the health care system when a loved one requires care they can no longer provide for themself. The hospital did not inform me that I could care for my mother in my own home with the assistance of home care…they just proceeded with putting her name on a waitlist for a local nursing home that could potentially take up to 2 years to get into. This is when I discovered I could take my mother home as the hospital asked if I would care for her while she waited for an opening into a nursing home.
I knew this was a blessing from Allah and did not hesitate to offer my mother care in my home for as long as she required my help. I googled home care businesses and interviewed the only one that called me back. I had no idea that paying $5 hour out of pocket over and above the Alberta Blue Cross that paid for 95% of their hourly fee was negotiable. We paid around $700/month for home care. We went through several care givers before I finally reached out to another home care company and negotiated a deal that would save us the $5/hour fee. We are happy with our current provider only because I had them hire my friend and Muslim sister who has the home care aide certificate.
I received a notice from Alberta Blue Cross indicating they would be increasing the amount paid to the home care company from $32/hour to $33/hour… knowing how much home care aides earn per hour, gave me the idea to start my own home care business. I want to focus on Islam as our foundation, hire Muslim sisters and brothers who are certified and offer them the opportunity to earn significantly more dollars per hour than the current industry is paying. Why? Because I want to help our Muslim sisters and brothers to earn an income that provides adequately for them and their family. And to offer our Muslim community who may require home care to have a Muslim sister or brother to provide it for them.
We are prepared to start our home care business once our research has achieved our goal of understanding the needs of our Muslim community and any employment interests. In shaa Allah
